Members of this community are interested in careers that combine their love of science with their desire to help people. People who pursue careers in social and behavioral sciences take knowledge from science and other related sources and apply it to research and clinical practices to maintain and improve the health of living beings.
Examples of career pathways include (but are not limited to): diagnostic services, therapeutic services, support services, health informatics, and biotechnology research and development. Professionals work in hospitals, dental offices and laboratories, government and private research centers, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, community and public agencies, and large health care organizations.
Cal State LA offers degree and non-credit professional development programs that can lead to a career in marketing and/or public relations. These include:
- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
- Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Nutritional Science
- Master of Public Health
- Master of Social Work
